日本の食べものがおいしですよ!

私は日本の食べものが大好きです!
I love Japanese food! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert- all of the food looks very tasty. For the past few weeks, I have been researching Japanese cuisine that is easy to cook. A good friend of mine took a two week trip abroad to Tokyo, Japan last year. She told me all about the food she experienced there. From Karaage (カラーゲ)to steamed rice with furikake (ごはんとふりかけ), she loved all of what the usual Japanese cuisine had to offer. So, I decided to familiarize myself with the tastes and flavors of Japan (as best as I possibly could). So far, there are a vast majority of dishes I know I will like automatically such as ramen (ラメン), Omurice (オムライス), beef dishes, seafood dishes, and sushi (すし). There are some dishes I would like to try, especially the desserts!

For this post, I am leaving this open for discussion and questions. What type of Japanese dishes (Breakfast, snacks, lunch, dinner, desserts, appetizers, etc.) do you like? And, would you make it yourself at home?

I'm Back!

For starters, I just want to apologize for having you all wait so long for a new post. I have been hammered with college projects, a possible internship, setting up for the Nagasaki study abroad experience, and building my business. Crazy, right?! Now that it is summer vacation (sort of), I will be posting more often and with new content. Be on the lookout! Tell your friends and family! Great things are coming your way right here on Nihon Adventure!

P.S. Since a picture says a thousand words...this picture describes my facial expression this past Spring Semester.

No Detail Should Be Overlooked

From excitement, to nervousness; from patience, to scrambling- mixed feelings are playing a huge role in this entire process right now. Spending an entire semester in my dream destination gives me so much to look forward to. I cannot wait to sight-see, taste the unique culinary creations, challenge myself to converse in an unfamiliar language, and experience the traditional festivals and customs of Japan!

All of this is well and good. However, specific criteria must be kept in check before I dive into one of my most exciting adventures. Right now, I am working on getting my class credits in order so they can be transferred correctly. Scheduling appointments is crucial in this process. Persistence and consistence is a key component of staying on top of my paperwork. After all, the earlier I prepare, the smoother the transition will be when it is time to fill out the application form.

I cannot wait to soak in the beautiful, Japanese culture that permeates in Nagasaki. But, until then, I shall continue this assignment: Completing all the necessary paperwork before filling out the application. As my karate instructor would say to us, "Always finish what you start"- I must continue this mini journey. No detail should be overlooked. For, in the end, it will all be worth it!

Just keeping everybody updated with what has been going on. It has been a month since my last post. I will continue to update the blog as I go along each month. Keep checking out my blog! ありがとう!

こんにちは!

Welcome to my adventure blog! I am so excited to be studying abroad in Japan! I can't wait to dive into the beautiful culture and amazing food- oops! I almost forgot to introduce myself! My name is Diamond Johnson (私の名前はダイヤモンドジョンソンです). I am currently a Sophomore at High Point University, located in High Point, NC. My major is Electronic Media Communications, a study in film and television. I love what I do and I cannot wait to take my passion of film and media to Japan.

Where in Japan will I be studying, you ask? Well, I plan on studying at Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies in the Nagasaki Prefecture of Japan. It is a magnificent campus with an excellent foreign studies program. At this university, I will be engaging in Japanese cultural studies and language studies. Normally I have huge goals for any venture I take part in. For this exciting venture, my goal is to deepen my language studies so I can learn to communicate effectively with the Japanese locals and businesspeople (for a possible internship abroad).

This is just a snippet of what I will be talking about on this blog. I am hoping to visit Tokyo while I am in Japan. And, possibly, I hope to visit more places in Japan that give breathtaking views of the gardens and temples. I will be posting videos that you can access on my Youtube account. Plus, I will be posting pictures of the gorgeous sceneries offered in Japan both on this blog and on my Tumblr account (I will be making a separate Tumblr account soon). Thanks for visiting my blog! Make sure to come back for updates!

P.S. I will be having a section on Anime and Cultural Impact in the Area of Multimedia and Communications.  This section is an analysis on current events happening in Japan and around the world.
